Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Fold ("we," "us") provides pastoral care software for churches. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain language — if anything is unclear, email us at hello@foldchurch.com.

The short version

  • Your church's data belongs to your church. We don't sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers — ever.
  • Congregant information your church enters into Fold is used only to provide the service to your church.
  • We use a small set of trusted processors (hosting, email, payments, AI) to run the product, each bound by their own privacy commitments.
  • You can export or delete your church's data.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create a Fold account we collect your name, email address, church name, and role. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your billing details — we never see or store full card numbers.

Congregation data

Churches use Fold to manage information about their congregation: names, contact details, attendance, groups, volunteer roles, care notes, prayer requests, giving activity, and similar records. Your church controls this data. We process it solely to provide Fold's features to your church, and we treat it as confidential. We do not use congregation data to train AI models.

Usage information

We use Google Analytics on our marketing site and basic application logs (errors, performance) to understand usage and keep the product reliable. Where we use error monitoring, we configure it to exclude message content and personal data from reports.

Survey and waitlist submissions

If you fill out a feedback survey or join our beta waitlist, we collect the answers and email address you provide. We use them to shape the product and to contact you about Fold — nothing else.

How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve Fold
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To send transactional email (sign-in links, reminders, digests your church configures)
  • To respond to support requests
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse

Fold's AI features (care briefs, digests, analysis) send relevant church data to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the requested output. These requests are not used to train models.

Who we share information with

We share data only with the service providers required to run Fold: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Anthropic (AI features), and Google Analytics (marketing site analytics). We never sell personal information, and we don't share congregation data with third parties for their own purposes. We may disclose information if required by law.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your church's data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel, you can request a full export. You can request deletion of your church's data at any time by emailing hello@foldchurch.com— we'll complete it within 30 days, except where law requires us to keep records (e.g., billing).

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to congregation data within Fold is controlled by role-based permissions your church configures. Multi-church data is isolated per organization at the database level.

Children

Churches may record information about children in their congregation (e.g., kids check-in) — that data is entered and controlled by the church, which is responsible for obtaining any consents required. Fold accounts themselves are for adults (18+).

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify account holders by email and update the date at the top of this page.
